Moko

I caught the flu, and two days in bed gets a bit boring...luckily
there is the internet to entertain. I have been looking for
a footstool for quite a while, and I now found it on the
Moko website. The stool with a leather seat is so beautiful -
and practical too, in a family with kids.
Those linen runners are also nice, as well as the wool
throw in beautiful aqua shades. Nothing beats
the feeling of natural materials.

Kesäflunssa iski, ja kaksi päivää sängynpohjalla on pidemmän
päälle tylsää. Onneksi on netti. Olen pitkään etsinyt keittiöön
jakkaraa, ja nyt taisin löytää sen. Moko Marketilla on nettikauppa,
josta kaunis nahkaistuimella varustettu jakkara on ostettavissa.
Myös pellavaliinat, ja rauhoittavat vedensävyt omaava
villainen torkkupeitto kelpaisi. Aitoja luonnonmateriaaleja ei
voita mikään!

Pidän paljon itsetehdyistä kodin koristeista, mutta joskus pää lyö tyhjää. Onneksi
netti ja blogit on pullollaan toinen toistaan parempia ja hauskoja ideoita. Yllä

DIY: Bottles

This is a versatile and easy DIY that just popped into my head, when
I needed vases for single flower arrangements. I thought some gerberas
would look nice in these. The idea is to use plastic tape (or other
slightly elastic tape) and roll it around a bottle as tight as possible.
The overlaying of the edges forms a nice
structure on the bottle. If you prefer a more romantic touch, why not try to
find tape in pastel colors, or with some patterns on it. Would suit
the style of a single rose. The bottle can be further decorated, with
just about anything, just let your imagination fly!

Teippaushurahdukseni jatkuu pullojen tuunauksella. Ajatus juolahti
mieleeni, kun tarvitsin muuntautumiskykyiset ja helpot tee-se-itse
maljakot yksittäisille kukille. Nämä versiot sopisivat hyvin vaikka
gereberoille. Käytin hiukan joustavaa muoviteippiä (1 ege/ rulla)
ja pyöritin sitä tiukasti pullojen ympäri. Reunojen päällekkäisyys
antaa pinnalle jännän struktuurin. Romantikko voisi
käyttää pastellinsävyisiä teippejä (jos niitä on?) tai jotain pikkukuvioista
suloista teippiä esim. yksittäiselle ruusulle. Pintaa voi teippauksen
jälkeen koristella vielä irrallisilla elementeillä - mahdollisuudet
ovat monet, mielikuvitus saa vapaasti lentää!

Facades

I like looking at the facades of houses. There is so many nice colour combinations,
and the color of a house is a major part of its character. These pictures were
photographed in Porvoo. The last picture shows a banner on the facade of
the recently opened Taidetehdas on the west side of the river. A new and interesting sight for both inhabitants and visitors. The dress on the banner is the couture of Jukka Rintala, one of the foremost fashion designers in Finland, having his 60 year jubilee exhibition.

Pidän talojen julkisivujen katsomisesta. Onnistunut värin valinta tuo esille talon luonteen ja rakenteen. Nämä kuvat ovat Porvoosta, sekä vanhasta kaupungista, että uudehkosta Länsirannan puukaupunginosasta. Viimeisessä kuvassa näkyy banderolli juuri avajaisia viettänneestä Taidetehtaasta. Banderollissa on muotitaiteilija Jukka Rintalan luomus. Yksi monesta veistoksellisesta puvusta, jotka ovat parhaillaan esillä hänen 60-vuotis juhlanäyttelyssä kyseisen rakennuksen näyttelytilassa.

Flowers in greenhouse

Flower beauty in greenhouse, photographed in the evening sun
light. I was about to take away the Ikea Ivar bookshelf to a
recycling centre, since I did not need it anymore, but decided to
try it out in my small greenhouse. Luckily I did, because it works
well as a shelf for summer flowers. A checkered fabric
looks nice among the plants. All I still need is a
comfy rattan chair, so I can sit and enjoy all the blooming and the
ripening greens.

Kasvihuoneen kukat ilta-auringon valossa. Käytöstä poistunut
Ikean Ivar kirjahylly löysi uuden paikan kasvihuoneen perältä ja
uuden käyttötarkoituksen kukkahyllynä. Ruudullinen liina
tuo kotoisaa tunnelmaa kasvien keskelle. Etsinnässä vielä
korituoli, johon voisi hetkeksi istahtaa ja katsella kypsyviä kirsikka-
tomaatteja.

Stool makeover

An old stool was hidden in the garage, dusty
and forgotten. Black paint did the trick: now
the stool looks sharp and updated :).
